Conquering Everest Barefoot

LISTEN UP: https://www.thepozcast.com/336

How far do you think you could walk barefoot on the road?

How long would you last?

A couple of hundred feet? Maybe a mile if you pushed yourself and fought through the pain of everything you stepped on?

Now imagine walking barefoot from Kathmandu to Mount Everest's base camp. That's 186 miles, or about 15 days (with shoes on).

Antoon Nootenboom did it in 2019, and he didn't stop there.

I bet you are asking yourself, why would someone do something so crazy?

Because he actually went crazy and suffered a traumatic mental health breakdown after returning from 3-tours in Afghanistan with the Dutch Army.

He couldn't feel any emotion inside. He had lost who he was and needed to find a way to regain it. Challenging himself to the extreme helped him regain his identity.

The attention he gained from that hike drove him to utilize his endurance superpower to raise awareness for a critical crisis: men's Mental Health.

He then broke the Guinness Record in 2021 and walked 1,876 miles barefoot along the eastern coast of Australia.

In early March, he set out on his most ambitious barefoot adventure yet, walking across the US from LA to NYC.

3,100 miles.

I was honored to connect with him during his stop in Las Vegas and unpack his story and incredible journey.
