On this episode of #thePOZcast LIVE, we’re joined by not just one, but three staples of the growing Miami Tech scene: Chris Adamo, Brian Brackeen, and Max Tuchman. Chris Adamo is an investor, advisor, and partnerships expert who relocated down to Miami almost ten years ago with his wife Randi, who’s a Florida native.
Max Tuchman is a true born-in-Miami native herself, a top 100 Inc Female Entrepreneur, and the CEO of Caribu, a leading 'educational family entertainment' platform for children ages zero to thirteen, which experienced 10x growth from the beginning of the pandemic.
Finally, Brian Brackeen is a General Partner at Ohio-based Lightship Capital, which invests in underrepresented founders and surrounds them with education, collaboration, and capital to help propel them towards success. Brian splits his time between Ohio and Miami, and together we all talk about the Miami Tech scene from every angle and perspective!

This Episode’s Heavy-hitters:
- Besides just being a grueling grind, Chris realized in-person retail wasn’t for him when he was robbed at knifepoint early on in his career.
- Max has seen most of the influx of new Miami residents be on the investment side rather than talent, specifically with “tech bros” moving in. The panel is hoping and promoting the introduction of a more diverse, talent-based crowd to take root in the Miami scene.
- Extending the “Jockey and the Horse” analogy that investors use to talk about founders and their companies, Brian also adds the layer of the “field” to talk about the importance of the environment and changes in the market. He explains that the field is right up there in terms of importance.
- Max stresses the importance of representation in panels and in general and will relinquish her seat at the table if the conversation is skewed too much in any direction to provide a spot for more diversity.
- Miami is the hugging capital of the world– the whole panel agrees that there’s a welcoming nature that favors the hug over the handshake amongst friends, so much so that Max wouldn’t leave the house until she was fully vaccinated.
