This Episode’s Heavy-hitter’s:
Jay caught the entrepreneurial bug from listening to his father talk about his electrical contracting business each night at the dinner table. His father was an immigrant who never had the chance to attend college, but always had an affinity for electrical work.
Although Jay studied law school as a criminal defense attorney and has great respect for the work those attorneys do to preserve liberties, his moral compass didn’t align with the work required of him, and he decided it wasn’t for him.
To get his first job in the recruiting industry, Jay actually reached out and applied to a job he was almost 15 years of experience underqualified for. He obviously didn’t get that job, but the recruiting firm was impressed with the experience he did have, and offered him a job as an associate.
Jay recently visited Ukraine to help with the war efforts there. It was a tough decision for him and his family, but ultimately he decided to go and speaks to his experiences there in our conversation.
Jay’s Rosenzweig Report details the percentage of women amongst senior leadership at the top 100 companies in Canada. The report has grown to be more comprehensive in the 18 years that Jay has been publishing it.
