Dr. Simon Mills: The Most Interesting Man in the World

Dr. Simon Mills: The Most Interesting Man in the World

Dr. Simon Mills is a skilled and successful entrepreneur with over thirty years of business experience. Born in Perth Western Australia in 1967 Dr. Mills studied to become a piano tuner/restorer, tour with many successful rock bands, and to host a radio program that became nationally syndicated. Mills founded London Music Group (LMG) with business partner Wazza Bray in 1990 and grew that company to the number one commercial music house in the country winning award after award and culminating in the world’s best jingle award.

In 2006, with several successful startups completed, Simon moved from Australia to New York City with his wife and three children. Simon grew LMG Digital Media in the US to attract customers as significant as Hyatt, AIG, BBDO, CBS, Starbucks, Pepsi, The Economist and many more.

This Episode’s Heavy-hitter’s:

- As great as Simon is at building relationships, he actually prefers the new style of building relationships remotely. Pushing things online was an ideal circumstance brought on by the disastrous events of the pandemic.

- Simon learned piano tuning first-hand from his father after he was released from jail. That wasn’t the only thing Simon learned from his dad though, we discuss how he learned the skill of survival among many other important lessons on the show.

- One of Simon’s earlier ventures was a business writing jingles for different radio stations and other clients– it was a lot of work forming the business but Simon loved writing the actual jingles from his bathtub.

- Simon works with Kevin Costner on an app called HearHere, where Costner narrates a road trip across America to users. It was his first investment when he launched his new investment arm.

- While Simon values feedback from consumers, he always leads with what he’s passionate about building and bringing into the world first and then finding others that resonate with it.
