BEST OF #thePOZcast: Hala Taha. Origional Air Date: 9/24/21
I have made a bunch of real friends that I met on LinkedIN and none is better than Hala Taha. She is so generous with her advice as a top podcaster and values my advice likewise around business and life. As the host of a top show herself, she really doesn't come out from behind the mic to talk about herself too much as the focus is always on the guest.
In August, alongside our other great podcast friend, Vinnie Potestivo, we all interviewed each other in person in NYC. I can tell you, there is nothing more intimate than a face-to-face interview, especially these days. Plus when it's someone that you know, even better. Hala has been through a tremendous amount of heartache this past year, including losing her father, a long-term relationship, and the rollercoaster of business. We got deep and emotional and I felt that I brought out the true Hala that the world needs to hear and see more of.
This episode was more of a conversation between two friends about life. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did recording it.

Hala Taha is the host of the #1 in Education, Young and Profiting Podcast, as well as the CEO of YAP Media, a full-service social media and podcast marketing agency. Hala started her career in radio production while in college at HOT97 on “The Angie Martinez Show.” Later, she launched an entertainment news blog site, “The Sorority of Hip Hop,” where she led an all-female team of 50 bloggers. When the blog site boom slowed down,
Hala took a temporary exit from the entertainment industry to get an MBA. She has 7 years of corporate marketing experience at HP and Disney Streaming Services. She started Young and Profiting Podcast and YAP Media as a side hustle, and now has several high-profile clients and over 40 employees.
This Episode’s Heavy-hitters:
We go over the toughest of times from COVID– the loss of Hala’s father, the end of a 12-year romantic relationship, and on a brighter note, leaving her corporate job to realize her dreams with YAP media.
Hala and I talk about the challenges of scaling a business that we’ve built with such a personal touch– our success in scaling has been through passing that personal touch to our team members so that attention to detail and devotion is never lost.
Hala is starting a podcast network via YAP media where she’ll help produce, market, advertise and grow shows that she signs to the network.
Although she’s starting to hire more experienced C-level candidates, Hala promoted her VP of social directly from an internship program because she understood her brand and voice so well.
YAP Media grew so quickly during the pandemic that they actually had to turn down new clients for a couple of months just to make sure current clients were being properly taken care of.
